Procedure

Mastopexy without implants

Lifting the breast using only your own tissue. When there is enough volume, a mastopexy without implants repositions the gland and removes the excess skin; with the auto-augmentation technique, part of your own tissue is used for shape and support. More and more patients ask me not to have anything non-biological in their body, and these options exist for them.

Who it's for

Patients with ptosis and enough breast tissue, who don't want to increase size and prefer a natural result to the touch and the eye. In very empty breasts the result without an implant may fall short, and I say so beforehand.

How it's done

The gland is worked on one side (repositioned, redistributed or used as auto-augmentation) and the skin on the other. In very large breasts it's combined with volume reduction to achieve the desired proportion, taking each patient's height into account.

Scar and recovery

Periareolar, vertical or L/T depending on the case; I favour short scars when possible. Without implants there is no long-term implant surveillance, although routine breast follow-up continues as usual.

What we discuss beforehand

How much tissue there is, what proportion you want and what you can expect without an implant. If what you want is projection and the tissue isn't enough, I'll tell you in consultation.

Frequently asked questions

What is breast auto-augmentation?

Using part of your own breast tissue to provide volume and position it higher on the chest, working the gland and the skin separately.

Is the result lesser than with implants?

It's different: more natural and with no prosthesis, but with no added volume. In very empty breasts it may be insufficient.

Does it work after bariatric surgery?

Yes, when there is enough tissue. In post-bariatric patients we also assess skin quality and nutritional status.

If you want to know whether this surgery is right for you, we can assess it in consultation.
