Procedure

Circumferential 360 dermolipectomy

When the excess skin isn't only at the front but wraps around the flanks and back, treating the abdomen alone leaves the job half done. The 360 addresses the whole circumference of the trunk and is the most frequent indication in my post-bariatric patients.

Who it's for

Those who lost a lot of weight and have loose skin on the abdomen, flanks and lower back or buttocks. The typical sign: pinching the skin of the back at waist level, there's as much excess as at the front. It isn't automatic for every post-bariatric patient: if the excess is only at the front, an abdominal dermolipectomy is enough.

How it's done

Excess skin and tissue are removed around the whole perimeter, tightening and shaping the body from the waist. It can be combined with liposculpture, diastasis correction and, when needed, a buttock lift using the patient's own tissue. In selected cases I add radiofrequency technology to support skin retraction.

Scar and recovery

The scar circles the trunk at waist level, planned to sit under underwear or a swimsuit. It's a major surgery, with a hospital stay, compression garment and frequent check-ups. Return to activity is gradual and defined for each case; what I do ask is to move early and carefully.

What we discuss beforehand

Whether a 360 is appropriate or the abdomen alone is enough, whether it's done in one or two stages, your nutritional status (haemoglobin, protein) and what is a realistic expectation for your skin.

Frequently asked questions

How is it different from an abdominal dermolipectomy?

The abdominal one treats only the front. The 360 goes all the way around and treats flanks and back too.

Is it done in a single surgery?

Generally yes, but depending on general condition and the amount of skin it may be planned in stages. We decide together, prioritising safety.

Is the scar visible?

There is a circumferential scar at waist level. It's covered by underwear or a swimsuit.
